Kaeng Tana National Park located in an area of Khong Chiam district, Ubon Ratchathani province. The general landscape is highland with small hill, and is passed by Moon and Khong rivers. There are many under water caves so lots of fish are living here. In the middle of Khong river there is a large rock as an island. Kaeng Tana National Park covers the area of 80 km2. It was declared a national park on the King''s multifarious duties, volume 98 section 115, on the 13th July B.E. 2524 (1981) as the 31st national park of Thailand.
Geography
The park is highland and is passed by Moon and Khong rivers. The average high is about 200 meters above sea level. The highest peak-Ban Tad peak stands at 543 meters
Climate
It is monsoonal area so it is not too hot in summer and it is not too cold in cool season. But it is rain abundantly in rainy season that made people like to visit here in connecting period of rainy and cool season because the weather is comfortably pleasant.
Flora and Fauna
The park is covered by deciduous forest, which has dwarf Shorea obtusa, Shorea siamensis, Dipterocarpus obtusifollus. Beside, there are some dry evergreen forests around Huay (Stream) and Don (prominence) Tana. Main plants are Eugenia cumini, Pterocarpus macrocarpus, Xylia kerril, teak, grassland and bamboo. The wildlife are wild pig, barking deer, civet, macaque, gibbon, birds and fishes.
Tourist Attractions
Don Tana
it is soil prominence on center that separate Moon river into two lines, which is 460 meters wide and 700 meters long. It is covered by delighted dry evergreen and teak forests.
Huay Kwang Waterfall
It is in Klong jeen District and has water flowing along the level of the stones.
Huay Mark Creek and Waterfall
It is above Ban Huay mark, and it is very big and has water flowing along the levels of stones.
Kaeng Tana
Tana Rapid, the big sandstone rapid in the middle of Moon river of lower Don Tana. In rainy season the heavy current flows over the islet,so you can not swim.
Tad Ton Waterfall
it located on Huay Tad Ton. The beautiful waterfall has water flows over curve cliff -look like a movie screen.
